Designfinger Eco Architectural Concrete

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question you can't find an answer to? Let us know and we'll add it to our list below.

How long does manufacture take?

Your eco concrete product will normally take around 4-6 weeks, depending on size and complexity and our current programmed workload. Please get in touch with us at the earliest possible time so that your project can be programmed.

If you require your product sooner please call us to discuss and we will do our best to accomodate your requirements.

How much does it cost?

Our worktops start from as little as £300 per metre based on a 50mm thickness, 600mm cabinet depth and polished finish. Sink cut outs, drainers and tap holes are extra and start from £300. Hob cut outs start from £70. Back splashes start from £50 per metre based on a thickness of 15mm and 100mm height.

All prices on our quote are based on current availability of materials. Some materials are rare and more difficult to source and are reflected in the price.

Delivery & Access

We can offer delivery and installation. The cost is extra and is dependent upon your location, project size and weight, and will be included in your quote. Delivery and installation starts from £250.

Though we have specialist equipment to transport the counter tops, some larger pieces require more people to assist. Often if you are already having work carried out we ask that the builder or fitter be made available for a couple of hours to assist.

Also, please consider access to your premises and how the pieces will be moved into your premises and installed. Hallways, corners and door widths must be taken into account when ordering and specifying your product dimensions.

In addition, many areas of London are Resident Permit Parking Zones and require visitor vouchers. We would ask that this be made available for delivery day.

Please get in touch and we can advise you on your specific project.

How do I maintain my Designfinger product?

There are some steps you should take in order to maintain the beautiful finish of your Designfinger surface

We recommend regularly cleaning your surfaces with warm soapy water. Do not scrub with abrasive pads or use corrosive or solvent solutions and cleaners such as cream cleaners as these will scratch the wax protection.

Regular polishing with a wax product such as bees wax or carnauba wax will keep your surface looking as new and will further prevent staining. We would be happy to return to re-polish your surfaces. Please get in touch.

While our surfaces are sealed and waxed to prevent staining, it is important not to allow liquids or foodstuffs to remain on the surface for too long because strongly-coloured or oily ingredients can discolour the surface.

Care should be taken with acidic foods like lemon or fruit juice as they can leave slight marks that may not be easily polished out.

Please get in touch with us for help and advice.

Water stains

In areas of hard water limescale can mark the surface if the water is allowed to dry, but this is easily rectified with some warm soapy water and drying with a towel.

Cutting and chopping

The surface is very tough, however, if you wish to maintain a perfect finish avoid cutting or chopping food on the surface.

As with any stone product knocking edges and corners with heavy items or pots and pans can result in chipping. If this happens please get in touch with us as we may be able to repair the damage without affecting the visual appearance of your product.

Hot pots and pans

Our surfaces are heat-resistant, however, we recommend that you avoid placing hot pots and pans directly onto the surface as the wax coating may be damaged. Use a trivet.

If damage occurs please get in touch we would be happy to return to re-polish your surfaces. Alternatively, at the time of order, we can incorporate a trivet into the surface of the worktop.

Further details

Our products are sealed and waxed preventing water ingress. In addition all our bathroom and outdoor products are integrally waterproof and will remain so throughout their lifetime.

Concrete is slightly lighter than its quarried alternatives.

Normal kitchen cabinets can support our worktops and countertops.

If you want to demonstrate the mass qualities of concrete and require pieces with a very thick edge we recommend strengthening your cabinets.

However, our designers can find lightweight alternative solutions whilst creating the same edge thickness. This can be through using light weight ingredients and creating thinner sections.

Please get in touch with us and we will be happy to discuss the solutions available to you.

Our requirements

We highly recommend our templating and drawing design service to ensure that your worktops fit perfectly. Our prices are based on your location and also project size and complexity.

Alternatively you can supply accurate dimensions (in mm) of your planned project, a plan drawing showing your appliances and cabinets including cut outs for sink(s), tap(s) and hob(s). Please see our detailed contact form, and we are always available by telephone or email for advice, so please get in touch.

Individualise your product

We not only welcome, but positively encourage originality and adding your own personal touches, from designing custom colours and combinations, to including fossils, stones and other precious objects into the surface. Just let us know and we will be happy to incorporate your ideas.
